U.S. Antarctic Program participant dresses to withstand cold weather and low wind chills. Participants are issued Extreme Cold Weather (ECW) gear in Punta Arenas, Chile, or Christchurch, New Zealand, before deploying to Antarctica. It is then returned when they leave.
