Several powerful telescopes are located in the Dark Sector at Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. The South Pole Telescope is the white parabolic dish on the left. The blue building to which it is connected holds the Background Imaging of Cosmic Extragalactic Polarization (BICEP) telescope. The blue building on the right is the Martin A. Pomerantz Observatory (MAPO). The Dark Sector is an area devoid of light and radio interference.
