A U.S. C-17A from McChord Air Force Base, Washington, awaits final fuel and cargo upload while on the Pegasus runway near McMurdo Station, Antarctica. This was the final flight to Antarctica for the 2003 Winfly season. Winfly is the term given to the flights taking cargo and personnel to McMurdo in late August. Generally, there are no flights to Antarctica between late February and early October during the austral winter, with the exception of the Winfly flights in late August.
