Inside the South African Air C-130 plane. While most US personnel and cargo are flown by US Air Force planes, occasionally other nations will provide support in return for similar support. In this instance, the Italian Antarctic Program hired the services of South African Air to provide limited service from Christchurch New Zealand to McMurdo Station and on to Mario Zuchelli Station. Some US personnel and cargo were transported along with the Italians.
