Planes at Williams Field, McMurdo Station. The plane in the distance is an LC-130 flown by the New York Air National Guard. The "L" in its name designates it as ski-equipped, enabling it to land on packed snow surfaces at the South Pole and at some field camps. It is the primary means of transporting cargo and personnel to the South Pole. The plane in the foreground, a Twin Otter flown by Kenn Borek Air, is also used to reach field camps.
