A Russian mechanic unscrews a covering on the wing of the Antonov 3T biplane as the crew begins preparing it for loading inside the much larger Ilyushin 76. The mechanics removed the wings, prop, tail fin and stabilizers. The biplane landed at Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in 2002, then had to be left there because of a mechanical problem. Three years later a team of mechanics fixed the plane and it was flown back to McMurdo Station, where it was dismantled and shipped out.
