Dulcinea Groff of Lehigh University collects a sample of black moss, dead moss that had been buried and preserved under a glacier for hundreds of years, that she can use to date when the ice advanced. She was part of a research team led by David Beilman of the University of Hawai´i at Manoa looking for deposits of ancient moss beds to gain insights into the climatic and ecological history of the Antarctic Peninsula.
