U.S. astronaut Owen Garriott, a crewmember on board SkyLab II in 1973, left a note at Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station when he visited in January 1998. One of the science buildings at the South Pole at that time was also named SkyLab, thus his note is amusing: "Hello to the Skylab Veterans! from an earlier version -- Owen Garriott, Skylab II, 1973 (Now 1/15/98)."
