Technicians fill the long-duration balloon at Williams Field outside McMurdo Station. The balloon takes advantage of the high- altitude wind current that circles around the Antarctic continent, bringing the balloon back close to its point of origin. The balloon carries a payload of instruments to collect data on various aspects of the cosmos.
