The shield for the new Background Imaging of Cosmic Extragalactic Polarization (BICEP) telescope being installed at Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. The BICEP telescope will measure the polarization of the cosmic microwave background to unprecedented precision in search of answers to questions about the beginnings of the universe.
