Lake Fryxell camp in the Taylor Valley, McMurdo Dry Valleys, is a site of Long Term Ecological Research (LTER).

The main hut at far right has electricity produced primarily by solar energy, and a generator in the white shed as a backup source. The solar panels are the black squares in the center of the photo. The wind sock assists the camp staff with communicating weather observations to incoming helicopter pilots.
