Marine technicians and scientists onboard the research vessel Nathaniel B. Palmer prepare to deploy an autonomous ocean glider from the University of East Anglia (UEA) as part of the International Thwaites Glacier Collaboration TARSAN project. The glider will travel close to the ice shelves, piloted by scientists back to UEA, to gather information such as the temperature and salt content of the seawater, the amount of phytoplankton within it, and the speed and direction of the ocean currents.
