Two Kenn Borek Air Basler aircraft prepare to take off from Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station, carrying the last passengers to leave Pole for the 2021-2022 austral summer season. The Baslers are modified Douglas DC-3 airframes.

The remaining 44 scientists and support staff will remain in isolation until late October when the next flight is scheduled to bring in new personnel and supplies.
