The U.S. Antarctic Program has many examples of international cooperation in Antarctica. This photo shows a Basler (a modified DC-3) landing at the South Pole. It was the first flight to arrive to the South Pole since mid-February.

A tourist company, Antarctic Logistics and Expeditions, and the Italian Antarctic Program share the use of this aircraft for reaching locations in the Antarctic interior. The aircraft stopped at the South Pole for refueling before continuing on to McMurdo Station where it picked up newly arrived Italian Antarctic Program participants and then flew them to Mario Zucchelli Station.
