U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander Jim Waldron relaxes in his bunk room during the 1957 austral winter at Little America V. Waldron spent the winter of 1957 as Officer-in-Charge of the VX-6 Detachment at Little America V. Waldron flew R4D twin engine aircraft, UC-1 Otter single engine aircraft and HO4S-3 helicopters during his deployment to Antarctica, accruing 125 flight hours over "the Ice."
