An aerial view of the initial work on construction of IceCube at Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station during the 2004-2005 austral summer. IceCube, which will be the world's largest neutrino detector, will encompass a cubic kilometer of ice. Over 70 holes will be drilled into the ice 2.4 km (1.5 miles) deep. A string with 60 spherical detectors will be lowered into each hole. For more information on IceCube, visit: http://icecube.wisc.edu/
