New Zealander Edmund Hillary used Ferguson tractors as part of the 1955-58 Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic expedition. His team traveled from Scott Base to the South Pole, laying food and fuel caches for the other half of the expedition, led by Sir Vivian Fuchs, to use. Fuchs' team was the first to traverse across the entire continent.
