A molting juvenile gentoo penguin begs for food from an adult at Cierva Cove along the Antarctic Peninsula. Gentoo penguins prefer nesting in rocky areas, often congregating in colonies of up to several thousand birds. Despite their ungainly gait on land, they are graceful swimmers and adept at catching krill squid and fish.
