Research assistant Betty Trummel drills small samples for the paleomagnetism group of scientists with the ANtarctic geological DRILLing program known as ANDRILL. Sediment and rock core were extracted from the ocean floor under the Ross Ice Shelf during the 2006-2007 austral summer. ANDRILL is searching through geological history to understand the past and future impacts of global temperature change on Antarctica’s ice mass by extracting sediment cores underneath the ice. Visit the ANDRILL website for more information.
