Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) surround a U.S. Air Force C-17 jet at Phoenix Airfield, McMurdo Station, Antarctica. The AGE equipment allows heaters and other electronics to continue to run while the main engines are shut down. AGE mechanics are just a few of the many support personnel who work to support the scientific endeavors on the southernmost continent.
Joint Base Lewis-McChord provides the aircraft and crew for the airlift that transports most personnel and cargo from New Zealand to McMurdo Station.
