Sunrise and spring coincide in the polar regions. The sun will peek above the horizon for a few minutes, then hours, and eventually, it will be up 24 hours a day, circling in the sky. This photo was taken near McMurdo Station, Antarctica, on Ross Island at 2:32 AM.
