Icebergs float where Pine Island Glacier (PIG) meets the Amundsen Sea. The West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS) is highly unstable, moving swiftly toward the ocean. PIG is the 'spout' through which much of the ice is pouring into the ocean. Scientists are studying the flow rate and how the ocean affects the ice glacier's movement.
